This is pretty simple - there is no text on how to draw the dogs, but what you get is a series of pencil / brush strokes as the author shows you each step of the process. I had my Kindle Fire on one side of the table and a legal pad of paper right next to it as I doodled away. The first 3-4 tries I followed it step-by-step, but I'm now doing it solo from memory and am now making my own variations; I have never been called an artist in any sense of the definition - but this book really helps you out.As I mentioned above, I was using this with a Kindle Fire (8.9" screen) and it worked great; it's not so good on my Kindle Keyboard (which is understandable). I originally picked this up for free during a Kindle promotion and, as I type up this review, the price has reverted back to $2.99; if you want to learn how to draw funny looking dogs, I would recommend this one - if this non-artist can do it, you can, too.

I really wasn't impressed because these drawing are more cartoonish and I wanted more realism in the drawings. For someone who is looking for the cartoon type drawings it would be perfect.
Very few instructions. Not for complete beginners like me.
I enjoy the images and the fun of trying yo draw these dogs. My kids really have a good time with these images as well.
This is a great book to learn how to draw cute dogs. It was very easy to follow and fun for my 13 year old son and myself. We have 4 mini weenie dogs and I liked the fun style of the drawing of them. Thank you for this book.

Our 10 year old son has this on his . He has enjoyed learning how to draw the dogs. His 6 year old sister has a difficult time with it, but as she gets older I am sure she will do better
